It all seemed to be about CES2013 these past couple of days. The news sites were full of the latest gadget coverage, some of which looked like they were from those cool science fiction movies. It was no surprise to find Mozilla Firefox OS at the CES2013 event.
ZTE to release a handset for the US and Europe
Turns out that South American countries will not be the only ones who will get to enjoy Firefox OS this year. ZTE said that they will bring out a Firefox OS handset this year for the US and European markets.
The specs of this new device are still unknown, but we can do some educated guessing looking at what the current builds of Firefox OS are being tested on.
The new ZTE handset is definitely something to look forward to, since development for and the hacking of Firefox OS has already started, so we should see some really neat stuff once it comes out.
Firefox OS Show-off
We were glad to see that Mozilla themselves were at the CES2013 to show off the current state of the mobile operating system.
Since Firefox OS will be based on HTML5, it will be able to turn almost any webpage into an app with the help of certain manifest files. Looks like Mozilla is serious about turning the web into a platform.
The interface itself looks fantastic and easy to use. Searching for apps is really quick and easy and almost reminds us of searching the web! We are looking forward to the public release, which should probably come in a matter of months if not weeks!
